Yesterday i bought a laptop that was advertised as having a 2.8k oled 120hz display as you can see in this pic the laptop has a totally different display… the higher resolution is obviously not a bad thing ( correct me if I’m wrong ) but I really wanted the 120hz .
The laptop is a lenovo yoga 9 with intel ultra 7 155h .
Does anyone have experience with both 60hz and 120hz on a similar or the same laptop ? It is noticeable ? I want to return this laptop as it is not what I ordered based on the listing description…
I got this laptop ALOT cheaper than it would be anywhere else , it’s a 32gb ram and 1tb storage model , 3.8k display , came with a mouse , but I really wanted the 120hz …
Just stuck now whether the 120hz is worth returning this one and buying another ?
Can you turn the dynamic framerate on? Maybe 120 only works through dynamic options, this can be the case with some devices. Dynamic is also not bad, it usually maintains top speed on movement but dynamically reduces to as low as 1hz on static screens.
Does 120hz work on lower resolution options? Does 120hz work with dynamic on and external power plugged in? Is your video drivers updated?
High framerate is a definitive nice to have but not a necessity for many workloads.
If you really wanted it though and it was advertised as such return it.

If you look in the pic it says variable refresh rate not supported and I’m just looking at it now and the dynamic refresh rate just below on the same screen as in the pic doesn’t allow to be switched on …

Variable refresh rate have nothing to do with basic refresh rate. I have 240hz but I dont have variable refresh rate… Have you updated the graphics card driver?

Yes but because the display is stuck pn 60hz thats why variable refresh reate doesnt work because it can only do 60hz nothing else . Even if i lower the resolution it still has only 60hz option. Yes I tried to update driver it says its already latest .

Honestly I think this display is only 60hz , the next resolution down is 2560 x 2048 , if I select that the display shrinks and has black space on both sides and it still doesn’t give me 120hz option…
Some display can go higher refresh rate at lower display quality, so try that as well
No I cannot change it … i just tried lowering the resolution but it just made the display small with black gaps on both sides and it still doesn’t let me change the refresh rate . As tou can see in the pic it says the resolution and then next to that says 60hz meaning that this display is only 60hz guess…

Just did a quick research, the model have either the 2.8k 120hz or 4k 60. Personally, if you game or even general scrolling you can feel the higer refresh display.
So definitely, try to exchange it. Since 2k 120 Hz is the perfect sweet spot for laptop display

Yes it was advertised as the 2.8k 120hz display that’s why I bought it … so frustrating ! Don’t get me wrong this display is beautiful but I want thay 120hz!
Where di you find thay info about which displays are available with this model?
