Can an SSD be installed in this slot (highlighted in blue)?

I am thinking of upgrading my laptop’s storage. I have already increased my RAM in this way; after carefully reviewing the specs, I discovered that the most I can have is 48GB. I started with 16GB and then added another 32 GB.

Alternatively, can you put an SSD in the slot that is circled in blue (on the image) and would it still function? Since this is my first time, I am just curious.

It isn’t circled, by the way. It has a rectangle shape.

It says PCIE/SATA 2 actually. What does that signify, in your opinion, bro?

Not everyone understands the meaning of PCIE or Sata :unamused:

What the heck, we got Google. I don’t mean to offend, but why do people create posts when they can just perform a quick Google search? :face_exhaling:

Indeed, it will take PCIe or SATA-based NVMes that fit the slot. In fact, it already does. In the worst situation, it will be wired for PCIe 3.0 x2, and in the best case, it will be wired for PCIe 4.0 x4. I’m not sure about the PCIe generation or lane count.

Recall that the lane count and lowest speed will be in effect. For instance, if your PCIe 4.0 x4 SSD slot is only wired for PCIe 3.0 x4, it will only operate at 3.0 x4. Similarly, the SSD could only operate at PCIe 3.0 x2 if it were installed in a PCIe 3.0 x2 slot.

No, I’m not able to. I’m sorry, but I can’t install an SSD in that slot because I can’t afford one right now.

Go ahead and get one if you can afford it!

Imagine, for whatever reason, taking the time to type out this sarcasm.

Although it was not my intention, I understand your argument, lol.
