Can you believe I got a brand new Asus Zenbook 14 for just $300... Any experiences with Zenbooks here

Can you share the full specifications

Nice find, that’s a lot of tech for $300, way better than anything I’ve seen at local electronics stores.

I’d love to give my thoughts as an owner of the previous generation, the 4500u, mx350 2gb, 8gb ram, and a bumped-up 2tb storage along with a 100% sRGB screen. The display is fairly accurate even at 60 Hz. We got ours for $550 on sale, originally $750. Handles WoW at 60 fps on med-high settings, running multiple instances of RuneScape is smooth, no issues with DJing software, and you get 6-8 hours of battery life on lighter tasks. Plus, the MyASUS feature to limit charging to 60% or 80% to extend battery life is fantastic. It’s been a great travel laptop for me and my spouse, totally would buy again for about $250 used or $300 new. Hope you find it just as good!

@Zen
It’s great to hear you’ve had a good experience with yours! I agree, the Zenbook series seems really solid in terms of screen, specs, and overall build. Just wish the RAM was upgradable, though I don’t really play intense games, mostly indie titles and classics like GTA5.

That’s an amazing deal for $300. I really wish pricing here was more like in the US, here that laptop would still go for around $600.

Agreed, it’s unbelievable you got a Ryzen 5th gen with solid build quality for that price. Over here you’d only get a 3rd gen with mediocre build for the same price.

It’s decent, but the webcam quality is not the best.

Nice, does it have Windows Hello support

I had the last generation of this model and it’s amazing for the price you mentioned, but the RAM and battery can be limiting factors. The processor is solid, though, with good cooling. Just a tip: you might want to turn off the discrete graphics to improve battery life since the integrated GPU performs nearly as well.

I’m considering either getting a small laptop or a tablet, still can’t decide.

That’s an excellent price for a high-quality machine.

If it was sold as brand new, that’s not right, that model is quite outdated.

I’m not sure what you’re getting at… It came sealed and in perfect condition. The same model is at least $400 on other websites.

@Ashby
It’s just that the processor was released back in 2020. I’m not too familiar with Asus models, but I know a bit about processors.

Even a quick search for ‘Zenbook 14 Ryzen 5 5500U’ on eBay shows it’s $400+ brand new. The 5500U might be older, but it’s still not cheap.

It’s still a quality laptop. The AMD 5500u delivers solid performance, and for $300, you’re getting excellent build quality from the Zenbook premium line. Definitely a steal in my opinion.

It actually came out in 2021 too.

Scammed? A brand new laptop for that price is a steal, not a scam. It even has good build quality and an Nvidia GPU. Not sure what more you’d expect for $300.

@Bevan
Exactly, if $300 is considered a scam, what should the normal price be, $100?
