Looking for a MacBook-like laptop with excellent build quality, long battery life, and minimal heating that runs Linux smoothly. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Are you sure you can install Linux on an M1 or M2 MacBook? If you cannot perform the intelligence ones, you certainly can.
Aside from that, Lenovo ThinkPad is my go-to Linux notebook.
While you can technically put Linux on one, I don’t think it’s at the stage where it’s entirely useable yet, at least without hiccups or other bugs.
Yeah, I anticipated Apple would make it more difficult with the new CPUs. That is good to know, though!
I have not done it on any recent Macs, but I did it on my Intel and it worked fine.
Yes, the Intel ones were very painless with other operating systems, but the M series is more resistant.
Most likely a Dell XPS or a Surface laptop. Or a ThinkPad Carbon X1.
Does not exist. MacBooks are as good as they are right now because they use ARM. Asahi Linux on M silicon, afaik, is not yet ready for general use. Qualcomm’s X processors in new Windows laptops are expected to support Linux in the near future, but they are still not yet ready for general use. And by normal, I mean Linux users who are not Linux developers.
