I’m heading to college this fall and need a laptop suitable for a business major and gaming, including titles like Rust and Counter-Strike. I’m not sure what specs to prioritize or whether to buy now or wait for new models later this year. My budget is under $2,000. Any recommendations?
What’s your budget?

I’m looking to spend under $2,000.
Check out the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Aura Edition with 32GB RAM. It offers solid performance for business applications and can handle light gaming.

Consider a ThinkPad P14s G5. It’s reliable, has a powerful APU for your gaming needs, and features a 2.8k 120Hz OLED screen, which is exceptional.

I’ve also been looking at the HP Envy. What are your thoughts on that for my needs?
@Shan
I would advise against the HP Envy due to ongoing power and battery issues that significantly impact its performance and usability.

Appreciate the warning!
Consider the MacBook Pro with the M4 chip. It’s very reliable with excellent battery life and can handle Windows games too.
You might not need a full-blown gaming laptop. For optimal battery life and portability, look at the Zenbook S14 or S16. Both handle games well, with the main difference being screen size.
