Choosing Between Boots... Columbia vs Oboz

I’m looking to replace my Merrell boots that have served me well for wet and muddy conditions. I’m considering Oboz Sypes or Katabatics, and I’m curious about how they compare to North Face Truckee and Columbia Granite Trail Omni. Anyone have experiences to share with these options?

I recently went shopping for boots and was leaning towards Oboz, but they didn’t fit right. Despite trying different sizes, I ended up choosing Merrells again due to better fit.

I’ve been using Oboz Sawtooth for years and they’re very durable. Oboz boots have strong arch support, which is a key feature you may or may not like. Remember to regularly clean the boots to maintain the waterproofing.

@Jody
Thanks for the tip! Good to know they’re durable.

Between Columbia and Oboz, I’d recommend Oboz. Columbia generally doesn’t specialize in boots. Just make sure the Oboz fits well, as comfort is crucial.

Thanks for the advice. Fit is definitely my top priority.

You’re welcome! Don’t hesitate to try a few different models to see what works best for you.

I wouldn’t recommend any of those if you’re looking for quality. Only consider high-end brands like Scarpa or Asolo for the best experience.

Those are great suggestions for intense hiking, but might be more than what’s needed for casual, muddy conditions.

I’m actually looking for something more budget-friendly and less intense, just for casual use in wet conditions.

For those needs, Oboz might actually be a good fit, especially if you find them on sale.

Found some Oboz on sale for about $59, which fits my budget.

That’s a great deal! Oboz are good quality and that price is a steal.

Sierra Trading Post has great deals sometimes. Glad you found something that works!

@Brice
Yep, it’s Sierra.com. They often have discounts on good brands.

You might find some Timberlands within your budget that work well too. Also, check REI for some potentially good deals.

It’s all about what feels right on your foot. Try them on if possible, and you could also refresh the waterproofing on your old boots as a budget option.
