Definitely the first one with the RTX 4080, it’s significantly better than the 4070 for gaming.
Both laptops are portable, but the Asus has a stronger CPU while the Legion has a more capable GPU with the RTX 4080, which makes a big difference. Screen refresh rates are similar, so you won’t notice any difference there.

Actually, the Legion Pro 7 is almost double the weight of the other one.

The weight difference isn’t huge, probably around 5 or 6 pounds for both, considering they are gaming laptops.

The major difference is in the weight of the charger. For someone commuting between university and home, it might matter, but in terms of GPU power, the Legion is superior. The Asus excels in CPU performance, and having an OLED screen is definitely a plus.

Indeed, the Legion offers better performance with the 4080, but the Zephyrus feels more premium and is easier to carry around.

The Zephyrus does feel more premium, but I had issues with the hinge among other things. It’s a good laptop but not without its flaws.
If performance is your priority, go with the Legion. If you prefer portability, the Zephyrus G16 is a better choice. Don’t forget to extend the warranty whichever you choose.
Go for the Legion and consider upgrading the SSD later. The performance gap between the 4080 and 4070 is significant enough to justify a storage upgrade.
Definitely the Legion because of the superior GPU. It also has an excellent screen.
It depends on your needs. The Zephyrus G16 is more power-efficient due to its slim design but has limited performance compared to the Legion’s 4080, which is power-hungry. Consider what you’ll use it for.
I’ve used both IPS and OLED displays on laptops, and despite the better blacks on the OLED, I prefer the IPS for everyday use due to less glare and no burn-in issues.

As long as it’s running the latest BIOS and the CPU isn’t overclocked beyond stable limits, you should be fine. While the Asus might be tempting for its Ryzen CPU, the Legion’s superior specs make it a better choice overall.
Make sure to update to the latest BIOS to avoid the Intel CPU overvoltage bug that could degrade your laptop’s performance over time.
If budget isn’t a concern, consider going for a higher-end model with a 7945HX3D processor paired with either an RTX 4080 or 4090.
Legion is the way to go.
If you’re mostly playing games that benefit from high refresh rates, the Zephyrus with its 240Hz OLED display is stunning. However, for raw performance, the Legion with the 4080 GPU is the better choice.
The G16 has great battery life and excellent speakers, making it a good choice for multimedia use, though the Legion will perform better for tasks requiring more power.
The performance gap between the 4080 and 4070 is about 50-70%. For high-end CPU models like the 14900HX in the Legion, just ensure it’s running on the latest BIOS to prevent any issues.
