Does this count as a laptop Well anyway this should be good enough to watch anime and view PDFs right

Looking for a simple device that can handle anime streaming and reading PDFs. I’m considering a hybrid device but not sure if it’s up to the task. Would love some advice!

That sounds like a tablet, possibly a Windows Tablet which doubles as a desktop. It should be capable for your needs. Good luck!

Thanks! I was hoping to post a picture to get opinions but couldn’t. Appreciate the input!

I wouldn’t recommend it.

It’s quite outdated. You’d be better off with something newer like a budget iPad or even a Samsung tablet. Even used models would be a better choice.

@Oren
Those options seem more expensive though.

They are pricier, but the performance and future-proofing will be worth it.

It’s really outdated. It’ll be slow and won’t support the latest operating systems. You’re better off choosing a newer model from the past couple of years.

@Shan
Here’s another option I found that seems better, what do you think? 2020 Microsoft Surface Go 2 mit Intel Pentium Gold 4425Y Platin: Amazon.de: Computer & Zubehör

For that price, it’s not worth it for video streaming as it’ll drain the battery quickly. Consider getting a proper laptop or a newer tablet model like an iPad.

What about this one I found? It’s supposedly better: 2020 Microsoft Surface Go 2 mit Intel Pentium Gold 4425Y Platin: Amazon.de: Computer & Zubehör

@Tallis
It’s an improvement but still falls short of a dedicated laptop or a high-quality tablet.

I’m not a fan of iPads and two-in-ones are quite expensive. Maybe a decent Android tablet could work.

It’s decent for the price and okay for its age, but it has limitations like 4GB RAM and an older CPU. It came with Windows 8.1 and can be upgraded to Windows 10, but not to Windows 11. It might work for your needs if you’re okay with these limitations.

@Colby
Thanks, I’m looking at a newer model with a Pentium Gold processor and 4GB RAM, but it has only 64GB of storage. Is that a better option?

That’s more modern but still has the same amount of RAM and less storage. If you can, try to find something with at least 128GB of storage.

It might manage very light tasks. I would suggest installing Linux to make the most out of the limited RAM.

I’ve seen slightly better options, but the ones with 8GB RAM are really pricey.
