That’s tough luck!
It seems your screen cracked. These things don’t just happen without a cause.
Your screen cracked due to something pressing against it near the hinge area on the lower center left.
The crack is quite visible. It’s physically broken, similar to how glass shatters. You could replace the screen, buy a new laptop, or connect to an external monitor as a temporary solution.
While you save up for a new screen, you might consider using a budget-friendly monitor that connects to your laptop’s HDMI port. Check with local shops for a screen replacement cost; opting for a refurbished screen could be more economical.
@Joss
Alternatively, you could use an HDMI cable to connect your laptop to a TV.
The screen broke, and if you’re not planning to replace it soon, using it with an external monitor might be your best bet.

Can I still use my laptop normally with an external monitor? Will I be able to unlock it and access everything?
Looks like your screen was damaged when you or someone else applied pressure to it.

I left it next to my tablet, and it seems I accidentally closed the laptop on the tablet’s cable, which matched the crack.
@Milan
That’s likely the cause. The tablet cable pressed against the screen as you closed the laptop. You might find affordable replacement screens on eBay for your laptop model.
Your screen is definitely broken.
The screen shattered due to an external force. Fortunately, replacement screens are relatively inexpensive, and the installation isn’t too costly.
Merry Christmas
It’s unfortunate, but HP laptops are known for hinge issues. Consider avoiding this brand in the future.
Something must have hit or fallen on your screen to break it like this.
I’m joking, but seriously, it’s broken and fixing it isn’t free. You might need to figure out a budget solution.
It’s time to say goodbye to that screen.
This is common with HP laptops; they have frequent issues like this.
