The RTX 3500 Ada mobile is like a smaller version of the desktop RTX 4070. You can expect performance between a 4060 mobile and 4070 mobile. So, it’s decent overall.

In what world I have the same GPU and there’s no way it’s equivalent to a 4060

4060 Ti Mobile doesn’t exist…
@Rylan
True but the RTX 3500 Ada mobile sits between the desktop 4060ti and desktop 4070 in terms of hardware. More shaders than the 4060ti, but less than the 4070. Apparently it’s got more shaders and TMUs than the mobile 4070, so still a decent chip.
@Avery
So, it should be more powerful than the 4070 Mobile; the 4070 Mobile shares specs with the 4060 Ti Desktop

It should be, but it clocks lower, so it lands roughly on par with the 4070 mobile.

Why do people always say anything less than 4090/4080/4070 is a decent GPU?
I get it, those are high-end GPUs, but cards like 3070 and 3080 are powerful too, right?
Even the 3060 feels powerful but that might be an overstatement maybe just me
Sorry, I’m new to this and don’t know much lol
I have a 1650 and I’d do anything to upgrade (other than money, that’s stopping me)
@Jody
Do you have a desktop or a laptop

I have a laptop
I used to have a desktop but it’s not working anymore
@Jody
The fastest GPU sets the scale. The closer other GPUs are to it, the more powerful they are. It also depends on the settings for running games. The 3060 is decent. It can’t run everything on ultra, but can handle all current games, though it may struggle in a few years. They aren’t equally powerful; performance is based on FPS at certain settings.
@Jody
3050 is powerful but 3060 isn’t?
Yeah, I saw a video showing the 3050 performing better than the 3060, which is why it’s cheaper, right?
Or am I missing something
Edit: I just checked again, they used 8 GB RAM on 3060 and 16 GB RAM on 3050.
They were comparing different videos, not their own benchmarks, my bad
@Jody
Why would a better Nvidia card be cheaper than a 3060? The 3050 isn’t as good as a 3060. The 2050, 3050, and 4050 are all the lowest tier of their generations.

Because the PC builders community is filled with people who fall for sunk cost fallacy, spending too much on their GPUs.
@Aris
What’s wrong with you?
@Jody
A decent GPU is subjective. If you play AAA games with path tracing, you need a high-end GPU like at least a 4070. But if a 12-year-old just wants to play Minecraft, any dedicated GPU is decent. If you want to train AI, a non-existent RTX 5090TI would still be bad, like integrated GPU bad.
So maybe instead of saying a GPU is decent, we should specify for what purpose.
@Jody
4060 is low tier, 4070 is mid, and 4080/90 are high tier GPUs. Hope that helps your question
Searching for “RTX 3500 notebookcheck” will lead you to a site with benchmarks for that chip. It should perform well at 1080p and even 1440p resolutions. What we don’t know from the screenshot is if Dell provided enough power, so you’ll have to check yourself.
This is a workstation laptop, not really made for gaming, more for rendering or server tasks. Still, it performs similarly to a laptop 4070 if you ask me. 128GB of RAM is plenty, and the Intel Core i9 is among the best chips right now. Great for gaming if you know how to optimize your games.
