I’m experiencing frequent freezes and Blue Screens of Death (BSOD) on my laptop. It’s very frustrating as it interrupts my work. Any advice on how to troubleshoot or fix this issue?
It’s unusual to see a cursor on a BSOD screen. Is that happening often?

Yes, it’s been happening frequently, and sometimes the screen just freezes on the BSOD.

That’s definitely not normal. It might indicate a deeper hardware issue.
Can you provide the specs of your laptop? It might help in diagnosing the issue.

It’s an Acer Nitro AN515-46 with 16GB DDR5 RAM, RTX 3050 GPU, 512GB SSD, and a Ryzen 7 CPU from the 6000 series.
@Joey
With those specs, your laptop should be performing well. Have you tried resetting the TPM or checking the BIOS settings?

Yes, I’ve tried those options, but the issue persists. It reoccurs every time I restart.
Have you looked up the BSOD stop code? It might give you a clue about what’s causing the issue.

I’ve tried, but my laptop freezes before I can do much troubleshooting.

In that case, I recommend trying a complete reformat of your laptop. If you can, create a Windows installation USB on another computer and use it to reinstall your OS.
A fresh install might be the best option here. It sounds like your system might be corrupted or there’s a severe driver issue.

I’m currently trying to reinstall Windows, but the laptop freezes during the installation process. What should I do?
@Joey
Try creating the installation media on a different device and make sure to format your drive during the installation process.
The BSOD stop code ‘Driver IRQL not less or equal’ suggests a driver conflict. Have you updated or installed any new hardware drivers recently?
Have there been any physical damages or incidents with your laptop recently that might have caused internal issues?
It’s rare for laptops to show such severe symptoms without a clear reason. Have you considered hardware failures, like a faulty RAM or SSD?

There have been no physical damages, and I regularly scan for viruses. The hardware should be fine as it’s a relatively new laptop.
