What is the best laptop for school that fits these specifications

It needs to meet certain requirements… please recommend me something good

You will need a Laptop with a minimum of i9 14900HX, RTX 5090, 24GB GDDR7, 192GB RAM, 16TB SSD. Anything less, and you’re out of luck.

Only 192GB of RAM? Seems like a blast from the past

Agreed. You won’t even be able to open Excel on anything less. Oh, and it must cost 3 dollars too

An i9 but no dedicated GPU? Which kind of school requires this?

Seriously, i9 is overkill, especially when the person who posted this hasn’t even mentioned their budget. If you’re considering an i9, then at least 1TB SSD and 32GB RAM are essential. You’re already planning to invest a lot.

I think an i7 would be sufficient. Those specs are listed on the school’s website for a reason, and the laptop needs to last six years.

@Sage
For what purposes exactly? Just for regular school tasks, or something more like a college program? Which program, if that’s the case? An i7 makes sense for software development, but otherwise, it’s probably overkill.

It mirrors my daily life.

@Sage
If your primary tasks are using Microsoft Office and basic coding, you could manage with even an i3. I recommend a Ryzen CPU as they usually run cooler than Intel. An Asus Vivobook could meet your everyday needs.

@Sage
Could you specify your budget?

It sounds like you might be attending a bootcamp or a similar program, as these types of places often have specific hardware requirements.

Please specify your country and budget next time. The statement ‘recommend me something good’ isn’t very specific.

I’m not in the US, Canada, or a millionaire

Then it’s helpful to mention your location and budget to get better recommendations.

@Poe
I was surprised by the i7/i9 request for just school. Most modern 12th gen and newer i3/i5 processors are more than capable of handling basic tasks for many years.

For all we know, you could be in the US, Canada, or be a millionaire

As an Automotive and Electrical Engineer, I’ve used a Thinkpad T450s with 12GB RAM. It’s not the latest, but it’s affordable and capable of handling AutoCAD, Solidworks, and coding projects. Consider getting an ex-business laptop for good value.
