Where do you actually take your laptop?

I’m stuck between getting a PC or a laptop. I don’t have any big reason right now to need a portable computer, but I don’t want to regret it later on if I suddenly need it. For those of you who use laptops, where do you actually take them? Are there scenarios where the portability has been worth it? The only ideas I have are for school, work, or travel.

For me, it’s about carrying less weight. When I play D&D, instead of hauling all my books, I bring my laptop and a USB with all the PDFs I need. Much easier to handle 4 pounds instead of 40!

Mainly for workplaces or college!

I prefer laptops for their lightness, but honestly, I only take mine out of the house a few times a year. It really depends on what you need the computer for. If you have specific work or school software, a laptop could be essential. For other lighter tasks, even a tablet might work. I mostly end up using my phone during travel.

So yeah, if your needs aren’t intense, a desktop is probably a great option.

I love my laptop because I can move around the house with it. I also take it out when I have long appointments or downtime at my second job. Plus, it’s super handy for trips to visit family!

Laptop every time. I like it smaller, no bigger than 14 inches.

I prefer a bigger screen, at least 16 inches, but how do you use the portability?

I bring mine between home, work, and places like cafes. A two-in-one laptop makes it even better.

@Jensen
Agreed! My 14-inch Dell XPS and Razer Blade have been perfect for portability and power.

Honestly, make sure you know you’ll actually use the laptop’s portability. Don’t buy it just for the slight chance you might take it somewhere someday.

Yeah, if I’d only use it once or twice a year, I wouldn’t pay extra for the portability.

I use mine when traveling for work, at work sites, in the car, at the airport, and in hotels.

That’s helpful! Thanks!

I take mine almost everywhere. For my work and hobbies, it’s a necessity. But if you’re unsure, you probably don’t need a laptop.

True, I just don’t want to regret it if I need a portable computer later on.

My dad and I are into nature photography, so we take our laptops for on-the-go editing, especially on long trips. During shoots, like long-exposure night photos, my laptop keeps me entertained. It’s been all over with me—into forests, remote areas, and occasionally on planes.

Laptop if you’re planning to use it outside, like at school or work. PC if you want more power and plan to use it mostly at home.

My laptop comes with me on holidays. It’s also cheaper to run; here in the UK, it costs less to use than a desktop.

I don’t take my laptop outside, but I like being able to move around the house with it. I thought about a desktop, but since I’m not gaming or creating content, I went with a laptop.

I take mine to work. That’s about it.
