Why Are Laptop Hinges Still So Fragile?

Magnesium chassis ThinkPads are great for this, as well as EliteBooks, ZBooks, and 9000-series Latitudes.

Ironically, most 360-degree hinge laptops have really weak hinges.

I’ve been trying to find this for so long for this forum. Thanks for posting it.

Remember when Lenovo had that cool glassy hinge? It lasted for like two generations, then disappeared.

I don’t move my laptop around much, so I keep the lid open all the time to reduce wear and tear. A little dust on the keyboard isn’t a big deal compared to a broken hinge.

It’s simple: They want you to pay them more often for repairs. There’s your answer.
