For some Acer laptops, pressing that button with a pin or SIM ejector is like disconnecting and reconnecting the battery.

Oh, so it’s a reset button?

It’s a bit more than just a reset. Sometimes, you need to cut power completely to fix certain issues. Laptops can’t just be unplugged like desktops because of their batteries, so manufacturers added this button as a solution for those with non-removable batteries.

Yeah, it’s like a reset, but only if your charger isn’t connected.

Haha, this deserves to be at the top.
Yeah, I have an Acer too. The button just disconnects the battery when needed, like when you’re working on it.
It’s for disconnecting the battery before opening it up. Probably a safety measure.

I’ve got an Acer Aspire Lite AG15-42.
It acts as a CMOS reset.
Sometimes, these buttons can save you from a complete system freeze.

That’s good to know. It could be a lifesaver someday.
