Would you recommend this laptop for purchase

Will this laptop be enough for schoolwork? I don’t think I have a need for a laptop for anything other than school work and I play RuneScape a bit so I know that will run well. My old lenovo broke down finally after 10 years. I was wondering if this laptop will be enough and last me another 10 years at least.

It’s refurbished and $400 with shipping included. Or should I just splash out on a new laptop $1000+?

Sorry I know absolutely nothing about laptops. I had an old Lenovo flex5 I bought in 2014 that finally broke down. I really liked it and was thinking of buying it again but I always thought thinkpads seemed cool laptops

I wouldn’t recommend it. The CPU and RAM are acceptable, but it has a very low-end 1366x768 TN panel. It’s a really poor display. For around $400, you can definitely find something better like some of the recently posted FHD T14 G2 AMD’s in that price range.

The display isn’t even that bad, you might be too fussy.

I’ve used HD/720p displays before, and while some are okay, a FHD/1080p is noticeably better, and a QHD would be even better if available.

No, the display is truly bad if you value your vision. It’s grainy, dull, with highly inaccurate colors.

It’s perfectly fine if you’re not overly picky. You’re not going to damage your eyes by using it.

@Kase
It’s not about being picky. The screen is objectively low quality, featuring 220-nit brightness, 45% NTSC color gamut, and 600:1 contrast ratio. It’s a TN panel. Claiming higher-end screens are unnecessary is one thing; enduring poor quality daily is another.

@Oaklee
Maybe you think it’s being picky, but in reality, insisting on such high standards is unusual. Not everyone experiences headaches from such displays. Let’s agree to disagree here.

The reality is, 1366x768 resolution is outdated. In today’s world, Full HD is the minimal standard for a reason. Calling this ‘spoiled’ overlooks the basic requirements for modern software and usability.

Cheap displays do more than look bad—they can cause eye strain.

Have you personally tested this laptop? It’s actually an IPS panel, not TN.

For $400, you’re better off looking for a Thinkpad which will offer a superior screen, CPU, and more RAM.

@Haven
Even if that’s the case, there’s no need to overly criticize this one.

I suggest you compare this to some Thinkpad T-series models and see the difference for yourself.
