Anyone else getting wear on their laptop from resting their hands…

Mine sounds like it’s about to take off whenever I run something, yet it just works. HP’s engineering is unique.

How old is it? Might need a clean-up if it’s been a while.

@Haven
It’s around 7-8 years old, but I’ve never cleaned the inside since I don’t know how.

There are tutorials online for taking it apart and dusting it out. If you’re unsure, a repair shop could help! Sometimes dust build-up makes the fan run harder.

My old HP laptop survived marker and pencil writing on it. Cleaned it with IPA, no issues.

My 8460p had that problem too. Stickers help protect the surface!

Maybe just keep both hands and laptop a bit cleaner?

Same thing happened to my 6-year-old Samsung. Sometimes it’s just natural wear and tear.

I got an old Lenovo too. Stuck a sticker on the worn areas, no more issues.

Isn’t it uncomfortable having a sticker under your palm?

After 6 years with my gaming laptop, the wear is real. It just comes with use.

Deja vu? I swear I saw this exact convo a few months back.

I actually use an external keyboard, so I rarely touch the laptop keys.

Ever heard of a ‘spicy pillow’?

Sweat or stuff like hand sanitizer can wear down materials over time.

My laptop’s surface is rough now from years of use; maybe my sweat’s acidic too.

Guess you’ve got extra sweaty hands!

Ever thought about how it tastes?

I’ve never had this issue with my laptop. Just keep it and your hands clean, and you’ll be good.
