Can I safely remove this tape while replacing the network card?

Model: HP 15dy
I’m upgrading the network card to 802.11ax but there’s a small piece of black film tape covering it. I don’t want to risk damaging anything. Can I just peel it off, or is there a specific way to do it?

The tape is probably there to secure the antenna leads since they can be a bit delicate. You should be able to remove it without any issues.

Exactly. Couldn’t have said it better myself.

Thank you! I really appreciate the help. Looking forward to that 802.11ax upgrade!

Make sure to reconnect the antennas properly after removing the tape.

Got it! Thanks so much for the tip. I’ll be careful with that part!

You can just peel off the tape and unscrew the card. There’s not much that can go wrong.

That tape is securing the antenna leads. Be careful with the antenna connectors—they’re fragile, thin, and made of gold. They can easily get damaged. There are special tools to safely remove them, but even then, it’s tricky. If you don’t have a tool, proceed cautiously.
