I am trying to update the RAM of my computer, an HP 15.6" Full HD Laptop with an AMD Ryzen 5 7520U, 16GB of memory, and a 256GB SSD, but I can’t find the RAM slot. I was informed by Best Buy that I could upgrade my laptop, so I bought the new RAM.
You don’t have a RAM slot. AMD’s Mendocino APUs (which is what your Ryzen 5 7520U is) only utilize soldered LPDDR5-5500. I’m just surprised it has 16GB of the stuff; it’s not particularly easy to find a 7520U laptop with that amount. I suspect the salesperson had assumed that you were just going to upgrade the SSD and not the RAM.

Thanks! The salesperson knew that I was talking about upgrading the RAM; they even sent me a link with compatible RAM to buy.

Hope you can return it, but the question is why didn’t you check in the first place?

ahh yes, sales people… honest to a fault when trying to sell you something.
@Yan
Retail workers don’t get paid enough nor are expected to know full teardown of every product in the store.
It’s possible that your model does not have upgradable ram, but you can also look on the otherside of the motherboard just to see.
Do you really need more for some reason?
You haven’t really provided enough information to determine the model and check HP’s support pages for details.
sometimes u can have it on the back but sadly many times it soldered
Your RAM is most likely soldered.

Definitely soldered, you can see it directly below the CPU heatsink, the 2 DRAM packages.
It would be possible to mod… But a replacement logic board or laptop would likely be cheaper
Many modern machines have soldered memory. However, the memory slots can be below the keyoard, too. Check the manual / documentation for your specific laptop.
I hope you turned off the internal battery in BIOS beforehand, OP

Most HPs don’t have that option, although in this case the battery is pretty easy to remove, so it’s not a big deal if they were intending on doing something inside it.
