Not possible, DDR4 is physically different from 5 and requires new motherboard.

Also, the 12 GB of RAM is currently running in single channel mode, which is much slower than dual-channel mode. Get rid of the 4GB stick and get an identical 8GB stick to what is there now. It should go to dual channel mode.

Most likely it is running in flex mode, which means only 4 GB is single channel, with 8 GB double channel

Only thing you can really do is to swap HDD for SSD, assuming that your laptop doesn’t already have an SSD. Also make sure that fans and heatsink are clean, to prevent overheating. If you want to add more RAM it has to be same generation you already have. DDR4 is not compatible with DDR5 an vice versa. I’d consider 12 GB to be enough for general use, I don’t think that upgrading it to 16 GB would make much of a difference.
