I love my Lenovo 300e but hate its keyboard, is there anything like it with a good keyboard?

light and cheap, well built, doesn’t need high specs

The Thinkpad X390. They’re a few years old, but you can get them with high or low specs for great prices. Similar form factor, convertible, super durable. And the keyboard is great. I love mine.

Keyboard won’t really get better, it’s pretty hard as netbooks are a very rare sight.

But maybe you can look into 2nd hand GPD Win Max.

thanks but i think the high specs the GPD would mean its battery won’t last,

I am mainly looking for something portable good battery and strong body, and am willing to sacrifice performance

@Wesley
Define “high specs”.

Also the APU is pretty efficient as it can run on just 5 watts locked, I have a similar AyaNeo and use it to play simple games on the go, for 4+ hours, with a smaller battery than the GPD Win Max/Mini.

And here’s the thing, the faster a calculation is done the less power it uses, plus if it is needed like when you’re on wall power you can make it faster so you have best of both worlds.

These devices have almost full control over the APU’s/CPU’s speed and max power usage, and are pretty durable too as they’re made to be portable and yet somewhat easy to fix.

@Kelby
thank you,

thats informative.

The yoga line of thinkpad pretty much tick all the boxes except being cheap, which can be rectified if you don’t mind finding second hand ones.

I think that one of the issues here is the cramped keyboard. I actually have to use something somewhat similar for school, and the keyboard constantly feels cramped.

Something that doesn’t feel cramped would be some form of a ThinkPad X2*0, X380 Yoga, X390, X13, or something like that as it is a very similar size but the keyboard is infinitely better. If you want the lowest priced, get an X240 (they are really undesirable due to the trackpad and the X250 is a better value) but the X270 is the LAST ThinkPad X series with upgradable RAM, and the ThinkPad **70 series is the last great ThinkPad series in my opinion. Also, make sure you get an IPS display in it if you are going for a newer model, my X280 has gotten the display replaced with a cheap TN one and it is GARBAGE.

My X280 has been nothing but problematic for me, but I think it’s due to me getting a bad unit (it was near max spec and bought the listing for $29, $50 in total).

@Logan
good point I do love thinkpads and I own one as my main laptop.

I just don’t wanna throw it in my bag and leave it in the office like I do for that one.
( getting a used ThinkPad might be a good option)

last thing is the battery, my thinkpads battery lasts 4 hours max while the 300e can make it to 6 maybe more.

( like I can use it on the go without getting the charger)

But you are right ill consider thinkpads.

@Wesley
I did think about suggesting the 11e as it has a great keyboard, but may be cramped. Also has similar specs to what you have, but thought it might not be a great first option.

does it have the regular ThinkPad keyboard? from youtube videos that said its a much lower quality,
ill also put it in mind,

Depends, what do you need, such as touchscreen and RAM/CPU? Are you comfortable with used?

If only it had a trackpoint (superior to trackpad in ergonomics), and could natively run windows 8.1 (#1 os for touchscreens, and also very lightweight, keyboard never lags even on a dual core atom), it would be a perfect laptop. Removable battery and upgradeable ram+storage should be mandatory too

Or just buy a keyboard if that’s good for u

I like this laptop especially its drop-resistance design,
great battery life ( lasts all day)
great monitor ( good brightness, unlike many cheap laptops)

yet its keyboard is very bad, I can’t type at my regular speed and I make lots of mistakes.

Any thing like it, with a good keyboard?

specs:
Pentium N500, 8gb ram 128 SSD,
( its airc cooled) and I think the week CPU makes for great battery life, not sure about that but i don’t mind getting a weaker CPU if it’ll have good battery life
