I NEED a better laptop SOMEONE HELP ME!

First reinstall OS, new driver and then see what happens.
(maybe some software or drier is making problem)

  1. Less than $500

  2. Touch screen

  3. Good processor (6 core and above)

  4. Can play games decently (for which I assume you prefer a dedicated GPU)

idk man… sounds tough to get all that in a New machine for that budget, your best bet is finding a used one, but even then, Dedicated GPU + Good enough battery life + Touchscreen are a difficult combo to find, at least in my experience

@River

If you want a good laptop with everything you described for less than $500, you have to buy second-hand. Look for a Lenovo ThinkPad T14 Gen 2 with Ryzen 5 5650U, it’s going to be the very best option for you and have great build quality. The battery may be worn down, however, so you might need to replace that - but the chances of it being too worn down to require replacing are very small, as those laptops are very new. It’s got a fast CPU and there are touchscreen options available.

As for making your Acer last longer on battery - Install UXTU and create a power plan to run on battery, and another one on the charger. Set 6W TDP for all TDP values for the battery profile, and 17W for the STAPM and 22W for Long and Short Boost on the charger profile. Set the battery profile to auto-apply when switching to battery power, and likewise the charger profile to apply when connected to AC power. And set the settings to auto-apply every 30 seconds, run UXTU on system startup, auto-apply on startup, and start up with the window minimized, and other settings.

If 6W is too low for you (it would be a bit low for gaming), then you can increase it to 8W or 9W. Best to run everything at 6W, though, maybe even 5W.

buy a android tablet for that 500$, battery whole day. even Surface over 1000$ battery cannot fit your needs

Nah, my 7 year old Ipad pro 2nd gen still has insane battery life. Why spend 500 when you can pay like 150.

@Ari
True, but Pros are still holding their price, and android is a bit more open software wise

A tablet would be a useless hunk of plastic, whereas a laptop is necessary for studies and others. Also, you don’t need to spend more than $200 on a tablet. You shouldn’t.

CPU isn’t the cause of the bad battery life, it’s more likely caused by a smaller battery.

Though the low performance is expected. Based on the Zen 2 architecture when we’ve had Zen 5 released recently. So it should be similar to a Ryzen 3 5300u in performance. It’s for people on a low budget.

User benchmark is trash. Avoid.

All laptop batteries suck, my Asus came advertised with 13 hours of playback and barely ran 3 hours. Out the box

Those advertised claims are tested with the laptops configured very specifically, low brightness, no background apps, etc. It WILL last that long, just not in ways people will use their laptops like normal.

@Sidney
What if I told you that I did that too… And got less than 2 hours

Not sure but I think companies also configure their test laptops on the hardware side to REALLY make them sip power in these tests, I honestly just look up reviews on YouTube for everything before giving out laptop recommendations.

@Sidney
Honestly f*** YouTubers and all the reviewers who Post in their blogs that they got six eight hours because that itself is a lie

There’s nothing under $500 that offers what you’re asking for. The closest you can get is an iPad with a cheap keyboard. Expecting a $300 laptop to play Roblox for more than an hour is unrealistic, especially since even high-end gaming laptops don’t last that long with any non-2D game. You might want to increase your budget a bit to meet your needs; otherwise, you’re out of luck.

samsung galaxy S9 FG WI-FI OR 5G should suffice
