Ideal for an engineering student in their first year?

What’s the engineering?

Ok for computer engineering.

I would aim to at least get a modest Nvidia GPU for mechanical engineering.

mechanical, and I want to use my desktop PC, which has a 3160 from COVID-19, for most of my applications when I’m not in class. If necessary, I can also upgrade the graphics card on my desktop.

It is favorable that

A discrete GPU is required if you plan to use 3D CAD applications.

Not really the components are not very complex.

Although I can’t really work with a 13.4-inch panel that is on the smaller side, it might be ideal for you if you also use a tablet (which is technically me too, but I still prefer larger screens). That being said, both the CPU and the Display are really fantastic.
As mentioned by another person, you will require a dedicated GPU if you need 3D and rendering software. The integrated graphics card from the CPU is the only “graphics card” mentioned here, and it isn’t very strong.

Make sure the screen is at least 14 or 16 inches.
