Oil spill on laptop motherboard

what should i do? it’s already off with battery and all ram and hdd removed. oil spill on small part like 1 by 1 square inch hardly. old laptop but only machine i have can’t afford much. please suggest what to do before starting again?

Oil is not conductive, if you don’t clean it it would still work fine, just dirty. You can wipe it with paper towel or use a toothbrush on top of the paper towel. Motherboard-safe solvent like IPA can help too.

oil is non conductive. just turn it on, oil cant break your laptop

thats just so its not dirty, its better to properly clean it but if you cant clean it it should still work fine.

@Shannon
oh that’s great. thank you

Clean it with 91% or 97% isopropyl alcohol. Fortunately oil is not conductive and won’t cause damage to the laptop.
