I was recently cleaning out my Lenovo Ideapad Gaming 3 (this was before I cleaned it) and I found this empty spot. I’m not very good with specs and tech stuff, but what could I put in there?
You can fit a 2.5-inch HDD or SSD there.
That looks like a spot for a hard drive. You can order one online, just search for a laptop hard drive and choose the capacity you need. You might also need a SATA cable, which should have come with your laptop.
Your laptop likely came with a small bag of screws, a metal casing for a SATA SSD, and an adapter to connect it to the HDD port above the M.2 slot. That spot is for the casing and the SATA SSD.
Edit: I made a mistake, lol.

Oh, so that’s what that was! Thanks for the help!
You’ve got a connector for an M.2 SSD and the holes for fixing it in place.
Another NVMe SSD, 2280 will fit perfectly.
You could use that space for a hard drive.
You can install a 2.5-inch disk with the right flex cable or put in another M.2 SSD.
You could stuff a charger there or use it for extra hinge replacements, or set up a mini lounge.
There’s a lot of space. You can add an M.2 SSD up top and maybe fit a larger battery below.
You can fit another 2.5-inch SSD or HDD. However, you’ll still need the ribbon cable or adapter for the motherboard. You might also find an extended battery that fits, just search for the model - extended battery.
How about a cool sticker?
Oh boy, where do I start? Are we talking tech or something else?
You could even put in some snacks.
Maybe some cheese?
How about a swimming pool or a two-car garage?
You shouldn’t put anything there until you clean your fans.
