Why does my older laptop handle Minecraft better than the newer one with better specs?

I’m puzzled by how my two-year-old Acer Vero, with 16GB RAM and either an Intel i3 or i5, outperforms my new Asus OLED 15 which packs an Intel i7 13th gen processor with the same amount of RAM. Minecraft runs smoothly on the Acer but lags terribly on the Asus. What could be causing this discrepancy?

Could the screen resolution on your ASUS be higher? Higher resolutions demand more from the system. Try setting Minecraft’s video resolution to 1080p or lower and see if performance improves.

I already matched the resolution settings to those of my Acer, but the ASUS still performs poorly.

Can you provide the detailed specs for both laptops? It’s also helpful to know how many RAM slots are in use and whether either laptop has a dedicated GPU.

I’m not sure about the exact model of my Acer, and as far as I remember, it doesn’t have a dedicated GPU.

Check if your ASUS is set to a power-saving mode. Adjusting it to a balanced or performance mode might help, though ASUS often changes the names of these settings.

It’s already on performance mode, but there’s still no improvement.

Even after adjusting the settings on the ASUS to lower than 1080p, the issue persists. It definitely has a higher resolution than my Acer, which might be contributing to the problem.

Is there a dedicated GPU in either laptop?

I don’t think either laptop has a dedicated GPU.

What about the RAM setup? Are you using one or two sticks, and what’s their speed? Also, do you know the exact CPU models in both laptops?
